Perspective : Don't let it cloud your judgement
“Our environment, the world in which we live and work, is a mirror of our attitudes and expectations.” — Earl Nightingale
Greetings
Here I am, Shaik Vizdania with an convoluted yet intriguing topic- Perspective
Ernest Holmes, an American writer once said “Life is a mirror and will reflect back to the thinker what he thinks into it.” What do you think he means ? He is emphasizing the importance of your point of view. It is his desire to convey that our views reflect who we truly are . Let me give you a few examples
Empress Wu Zetian, the first and the only emperor of China. She was the empress of Tang dynasty of China which she ruled for over 15 years. She rose from a lowly concubine of Emperor Taizong of Tang China to the Empress of the majestic China. And also she is one of the most misunderstood leader. The Chinese history has portrayed her as an evil and a vicious woman who stole the throne and had bought misfortune to China. But archaeological evidences have proven them wrong, she is one of the greatest emperors in Chinese history due to her strong leadership qualities and effective governance. It is true that in her ascent to power, Wu mercilessly eliminated her direct competition, as empress, Wu was ruthless but effective, and the Tang Dynasty prospered under her rule, becoming one of China’s golden ages. Some of her accomplishments are reforming the military, improving the agriculture system, and waging successful wars to expand the empire, introducing a civil service exam system based on merit and so on. Emperor Wu has also created a golden era of all women, an era of equality. She inspired many women to be independent, to stand alone. Her reign was filled with prosperity, happiness and equality of Tang people, a golden era. Of all the terrible things that she has done, male emperors have done them all and were even more ruthless than her. Yet, few male emperors can match up to her strengths, beauty, intelligence, decisiveness, and ability to outsmart her opponents. Historians of that era have erased her accomplishments due to sexism as they believed that women were weak and indecisive but Wu Zetian proved them all wrong thus leading to the misunderstanding of her legendary reign of legacy.
Though this is my perspective about a wrongly judged Emperor of China . I believe that my perspectives might be different from many, but that doesn't negate either. Because, it all depends what aspects we are actually focusing on, isn't it. It must be acknowledged that every phenomenon has a unique story, a different perspective all together. The history that we read today is just a bunch of information and may migrate from the actual knowledge of the fact. One must differentiate the information from knowledge before judging. Thus I firmly believe that we should never allow our perspective to interfere with our judgments.
